Walk Leading

I am a qualified and experienced walk leader and put on a range of regular walks for groups such as Spice.

My emphasis is on inclusivity and I want everyone to be able to enjoy the benefits and discoveries that walking brings without having to be ‘superfit’!

I specialise in walks along waterways, hidden green spaces in urban areas and suburban countryside. I enjoy sharing points of historical interest, natural beauty and local interest as we go.

Countryside Walks

Countryside Walks

I have a large variety of walks from 5 -12 miles in such areas as Sutton Park, Cannock Chase, Lickey, Client and Malvern Hills, Kingsbury/ Middleton, Southern Peak District and many other areas of the rural Midlands.

Where possible I theme my walks and include stops at lovely pubs, cafes and places of interest.

Walking Weekends

I am very experienced in putting together and leading walking weekends of all different types. Recently I have enjoyed leading 2-day walks with hotels that follow famous canals. My four favourites have been: Birmingham to Stratford on Avon; Birmingham to Worcester; Birmingham to Warwick and Llangollen to Whitchurch.

By using off peak accommodation at luxury hotels with good food and leisure facilities I am often able to put together a very civilised yet surprisingly affordable break.

Charity Walks

Routes I have pioneered for charity fundraising include “The Midlands 3 Peaks Challenge”, “Walk a Marathon” and “Ten in a Tutu”.

Urban Rambles

I have developed a collection of walks that are typically 5 – 12 miles of easy, flat walking using the Greenways Map. These usually start from town centres/ railway stations and follow routes made up of linked green corridors through urban areas such as waterways, cycleways and parkland.

They provide accessible, easy walking and often include some surprise discoveries and industrial heritage along the way!

Recent examples include: Around Birmingham Airport; Kings Norton, Northfield and Bournville Waterways Walk; Birmingham City Centre to Sarehole Mill; Birmingham to Sutton Coldfield via Newhall Valley; Solihull Waterfront Walk; Walsall Waterfront Walk; North Birmingham 25k Challenge Walk; Warwick Waterfront Walk; The Bournville Triangle; Birmingham Canals Walk and many others.
